I have never worked for a company so out of tune with their own employees as NCL is with theirs. This company just sucks! The supervisors are never around when you need them. They are always in meetings or out smoking. Then after their meetings the supervisors have to pull their teams into meetings. With so many meetings how are you suppose to answer the calls coming in? I had nothing but trouble getting them to pay me correctly. An employee shouldn't have to constantly prove they are at work especially if you log in and out on the phone and make the bookings. The only time my checks were right was when I was in training for 4 weeks. The traing class got everyone reved up and excited about getting on the to floor to book these cruises. As soon as I got on the floor and saw what it was really like I should have left then and not looked back. Everything is centered around a script that Bob Becker swears by. He needs to get a grip on reality! A script does not sell cruises. When I answered the phones they would just want the price and didn't care to answer questions. And constantly asking which credit card they want to use just pushes them away. Bob Becker is going to run this company into the ground just as he did Carnival. People are looking for good deals, not to hear that they are going to enjoy the cruise. The stress they put on you for learning and using the script is ridiculous. If you miss one on the test (yes they test you on the script that sits in front of you daily) then there is a good chance you are going to have more "training" or they will just let you go. The threat of being let go for doing something wrong is insanely stressful. NCL does not pay enough to deal with that kind of stess. They also need to update the website more often and make the links more accessable to the passengers. More than half the calls received are about how the links aren't working, how the prices don't match what the planners quote them, and how the prices change with a blink of an eye. The site is not usser friendly at all. God forbid you go over your break or in after work call for more than a minute with out having a supervisor hovering around wondering what is wrong. It feels like you are there to be babysat and not to do a job. Overtime is available, but because you are paid for taking lunches you have to make up that time before the overtime kicks in. Before I was hired I told them that I needed time off in July and was told there wouldn't be a problem. I still had to submit my vacation and did a month before I left. I got the biggest run around just to get an answer. It came down to 2 days befor I had to leave and I had to have my supervisor start calling to make sure it was still okay for me to go. If you're told before you are hired not to worry, than you shouldn't have to fight to get what you were already promised. They have taken away voicemail and told not to give out extension numbers. If you can't make a sale, then enter the persons name into the system and let outbound handle it. NCL is starting to put inbound agents against each other and to constantly have to fight for a sale is not right. Turmoil is going to eventually break out there and I am happy to be gone. Most employees of NCL have never taken a cruise. How are you suppose to sell a product if you have never actually used it? I know I will never cruise with them or recommend them to anyone. My class started out with 14 people and it is now down to 5 left on the floor in two months. Not great odds there. Turn over is big there. This has been by far the worst company I have ever worked with and couldn't be happier to have left. If your looking to find a good paying job that lets you do what you do best, than NCL is not for you. They don't care about their employees. They only care about how much money they bring in and how not to let the revenue get away. Stay clear of NCL!!
