The renal arteries normally arise off the side of the abdominal aorta, immediately below the superior mesenteric artery, and supply the kidneys with blood. How can you tell the difference between the renal veins and renal arteries?

Renal artery carries oxygenated blood. It is a muscular, thicker structure, compared to the renal vein, which is thinner and carries deoxygenated blood.
