Diphenhydramine hydrochloride is an over-the-counter antihistamine, antiemetic, sedative and hypnotic. It may also be used for the treatment of extrapyramidal side effects of typical antipsychotics. It is a member of the ethanolamine class of antihistaminergic agents.
