| Company pay is market competitive. They have good starting salaries and you can definately earn more from bonuses they give and raises. However, there is some real abuse of power at this job. It is a male dominated company and believe me when I say dominated! The senior scientists think they are the most amazing and berate their staffers. There is a general level of respect to get through the workday, but this company constantly hires employees who backstab others and gossip. Benefits are ok, but they can be better. If you take a walk down the hall to their neighbor Biotrove who works on some similar projects as US Genomics, you can get better benefits there. HR is not extremely helpful explaining benefits as there is only ONE person in HR! Job security - HA! Everyone is in fear of losing their job, you cannot enjoy working here. The employees are hard workers, but if you have kids, kiss them goodbye. Too many times I have seen moms working there who cannot get home to see their children due to milestones. It happens way too much and is sad. There is potential to get promotions here, but is it really worth all the gossip and energy drain? The company is not located near any accessible transportation, so forget it if you don't have a car. Co-worker competence range from ok to smart. But the smart ones look out for themselves there. The work environment is horrid. I have seen upper level at each others throats behind the scenes. The research associates in the labs make fun of each other, literally take things from other labs without asking and never placing them back, and there is just a general sense of not knowing where the company is headed. There are some good people who are hired in this company, but they are slowy brainwashed by USG poor work ethics. This company does not deserve the recognition it gets. The science they work on is not highly funded. It is hard to be happy in this company after a few months of being the 'new kid'. Blame upper management and senior scientists who are part of the upper management clique. Oh yes, did I forget to mention there are cliques here? Don't waste your time here unless you desperately need a job. |
