Bile acids are steroid acids found predominantly in the bile of mammals. In humans taurocholic acid, and glycocholic acid represent approximately eighty percent of all bile acids. The two major bile acids are cholic acid, and chenodeoxycholic acid. They, their glycine and taurine conjugates, and their 7-alpha-dehydroxylated derivatives are all found in human intestinal bile.
