A Step-by-Step Look at Hemodialysis

Mayo ClinicMAYO CLINIC

Hemodialysis is the most common type of dialysis. Learn about it with this slide show:

Dialysis removes waste and balances the electrolyte and fluid level of the blood. These tasks are usually performed by the kidneys. However, when the kidneys can no longer do their job sufficiently, or when they are removed, dialysis is an artificial way to mimic their function. There are two types of dialysis: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. Learn about hemodialysis in this slide show.

As a recently hired employee I had high hopes of a promising career at Amgen. Now after about a year those hopes have turned into "How can I get out of here?" The relocation package is phenomenal but with a 2 year commitment to Amgen. Bonus my first year was great. Work life balance is horrid. Work long hours with very little appreciation or recognition. My organization recently went through a reorg and that is when everything went bad. No respect to individuals in the new assignments given. Different organizations working to make sure their "domain" is protected. I was brought on board for a specific job and now I am doing something completely different and not where I wanted to take my career. My opinion is that Amgen grew too quickly, hired a ton of people and now that the money has dried up, everyone does what they can to prove they are not the ones to be laid off. There is redundancy of jobs throughout the company. I think another big downsizing would be good for the company as long as they let go some of the lousy leadership!
