I agree with many of the comments already posted here. This division is no different, all the decisions are made from the top down without regard for simple things like reality, or asking the people actually doing the work for their opinions. When you think you know what direction something is going the decision will change on a dime and you are expected to jump. There is no potential for job growth or advancement and the raises are a joke. People typically only stick around for around 1-2 years or less because this is the typical time it takes to get totally sick & tired of the stress, drama and frustration. One study I worked with had 7 study managers in less then 2 years. There are so many biotech companies just an hour away in the SF bay area, so why stick it out at Medtronic given that they are only interested in working you to death without any perks or career advancement? Whenever someone quits, they either don't fill the position in, or take so long that everyone there is doing the work of around 3 people. They are constantly installing hiring freezes whenever their profits aren't growing fast enough to satisfy the corporate offices, so good luck getting any relief or getting any quality work done. Its not worth the pain and misery to work there, their salary and benefits are nothing special. Even when you take a vacation (only 2 weeks) you can expect to get calls and requests to be in meetings.
