Kosmix RightHealth Teams Up With Not-for-Profit Health Organizations to Support Communities in Need

Free "DoingRight@RightHealth" Program Connects Medical Charities to Patients, Volunteers, and Philanthropists

February 25, 2009 — Mountain View, Calif — Kosmix™ RightHealth, the Guide to Health on the Web, today announced "DoingRight@RightHealth," a free program designed to connect not-for-profit health organizations with patients, volunteers and philanthropic donors. Under the new program, DoingRight@RightHealth will give medical charities, patient advocacy groups and public health research organizations free marketing exposure to RightHealth’s community of 6.2 million users.

"Non-profits are the unsung heroes of the American medical system, and we established DoingRight@RightHealth as part of a broader corporate initiative to support these worthwhile causes," said Kosmix co-founder Venky Harinarayan. "Every week millions of people visit RightHealth to learn about the medical conditions that impact their lives and their families. By creating a closer link between these readers and non-profit health organizations, DoingRight@RightHealth enables charities to reach needy patients, and at the same time connect with volunteers and donors who care deeply about their cause."

RightHealth will choose twelve not-for-profit organizations each year to support through the DoingRight@RightHealth program. Qualifying charities will receive free site real estate to promote their causes on both the RightHealth home page and on RightHealth topic pages. RightHealth generates 21 million page views every month, ensuring maximum exposure for each charitable campaign.

The first charity to qualify for the DoingRight@RightHealth program is Takes All Types, a non-profit that uses social networks to connect blood donors to blood collection organizations. Takes All Types founder Ben Bergman said the partnership with RightHealth is a boon to his organization’s mission to promote and facilitate blood donation.

"The cause is universal – everyone has blood and 90% of us will need it someday," he explained. "Our highest priority is getting word out so that people sign up with Takes All Types to support their community’s blood supply. Our goal of ending the chronic blood shortage is eminently achievable, especially bolstered by the reach and credibility that RightHealth affords. The RightHealth community is the perfect audience for Takes All Types – civic-minded, socially engaged, and concerned about their own and our nation’s health. Of course, any philanthropy or volunteerism we garner from the program will get us all there even faster."

RightHealth encourages medical charities, patient advocacy groups and public health research organizations of all sizes to apply for the DoingRight@RightHealth program. To submit an application for DoingRight@RightHealth, visit www.righthealth.com/corp/doingright.
