MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., September 16, 2008 - Kosmix today announced its consumer health site, www.righthealth.com, grew by 156 percent in user traffic over the last year according to comScore, Inc. The increase is the largest for any owned and operated health online site. Today, RightHealth is the number two most visited online health site according to Hitwise.
ComScore reported that the online health information category grew 21 percent from July of 2007 to 2008. In this rapidly growing industry, RightHealth demonstrated year over year gains of 2.4 million unique visitors to 6.2 million unique visitors. Much of the growth is attributed to the numerous partners integrated into the site who offer content covering a range of medical topics including health videos, 3D anatomical images, and alternative medicine options.
Kosmix also announced the addition of a host of new health partners and unveiled a fresh home page design, giving millions of consumers a more compelling and richer experience as they browse the RightHealth site. Partners include NBC Digital Health Network for latest health videos; FatSecret for diet and health content; MyDailyApple for medical journal information; Healthocrates for community-created medical content; FamilyDoctor for family health information; BodyMaps for 3D images; Topix for latest medical news; eMedTV for high-definition health videos; and MamaHerb for alternative medicine.
"Today almost 80 percent of Internet consumers are using the Web to become better informed about their health and the health of their loved ones," said Venky Harinarayan, co-founder of Kosmix. "As this category evolves, the health online space will witness greater growth and more engaged communities online as people look to the Web for health answers. We plan to continue our work with content partners to make RightHealth the best of the Web for consumers to browse, discover and learn more about their health."
RightHealth offers consumers a 360 degree view of any health topic on the Web by integrating the best Web health applications for that topic into a single page. The site also has a trusted sources section featuring expert opinions and research; and links users to products they can purchase for their health.
