Bipolar Disorder  & Lithium Carbonate

Lithium carbonate is a chemical compound of lithium and carbonate that is used as a mood stabilizer in psychiatric treatment of manic states and bipolar disorder. Its most common alternative is lithium orotate. For the medical aspects of lithium, see lithium pharmacology.

Lithium carbonate is sold as Carbolith, Cibalith-S, Duralith, Eskalith, Lithane, Lithizine, Lithobid, Lithonate and Lithotabs.

Vitamin D Deficiency Linked to Breast Cancer

The striking findings from a Canadian study was released in advanced of this month's annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. The study found that women with vitamin D deficiency were 94% more likely to see their cancer spread - and 73% more likely to die - than women with adequate levels of the vitamin. Vitamin D can be found in fish, oysters, dairy products, and is mostly produced in the body when the skin is exposed to UV rays. Full story.
